The Village Coffee Shop

November 23rd, 2008 | by bigjohn |

The Village Coffee Shop originally opened in El Segundo in 1958.

Since that time it has seen few changes, maintaning the feeling of eating at home with friends and family. Even with the change of ownership in 1997,when Big John took over, the little Village Cafe is still the friendly little coffee shop it has always been.

When Big John took over, he added many of his favorites to make the biggest menu the little diner has ever seen. Complementing the traditional homestyle American cooking, that the diner is famous for, with dishes from around the world, steaks to pastas, Mexican to Russian, what ever you want, you can get at

Big John’s Village Cafe.

Specializing in homemade soups made fresh daily, including chili and beans. Cornbread, made with real corn, and for the real chili lover the granddaddy of all chilies” Big John’s Texas Chili”, no beans of course. Made the old fashion way and not served until it’s aged for a day.

NOW IT IS TIME FOR A NEW LOOK AND A NEW LOCATION

Big John sold the little coffee shop in El Segundo in 2005 and went into retirement for a few years. Spending most of his time with his Granddaughter, Jordan

Now that Jordan is 5 and has started school, Big John decided to open another Cafe.

In true Big John fashion, he has again brought his great home style cooking back to the So. bay.

November first was the start of Big Johns Cafe Redondo Beach. The new place has all your favorites as well as the addition of many new items
